Wow! I am at the start of my journey and I hope I can be as successful as you have been! I have been on many failed diets and now I decided to go the exercise route to start instead - Do you diet as well? Or has the exercise been the main reason for the weight loss? I watch what I eat, but don't seriously diet. I'm hoping this can be enough for now, paired with exercise!
Jessica - For many years I followed the Weight Watchers points program. I am still a WW member but now I just go to the meetings, I don't count points anymore because I've learned how to balance my eating on my own. When I started in 2007 I started with diet alone, and added exercise later. I think you can start with exercise alone and if you see a plateau in your weight loss you can take a look at what you're eating. What's more important than how you eat/exercise is that you establish regular healthy habits, that you commit to changing your behavior for life, not just to lose the weight. Those are the changes that will get you to goal and keep you maintaining. And you can absolutely be as successful as I have been!!! It's all up to you Jessica!
I love your weight log on the side. It sort of gives me an idea on the kind of progress/slumps that one should expect. Your before, during, and after pics are great. Inspirational! :) I'm just 5'2" but I'm see-sawing along 175-165 lbs (without exercise). I know I should start moving again, but sometimes it really is just hard to do. Seeing your blog gave me more motivation to actually START. Love your 10 ways I Survive a Slump Section (and so accessible too!). Most I've read before, but I can never read enough about these things especially when I'm currently in the longest slump of my life ever! Accessible reminders rock!
Thanks Naomi! Glad you're taking the time to find your path. Remember, as long as you keep the focus on your inner desires, motivations and goals, you will find your way. Just don't take your eyes off the prize.
Michelle, Found your blog via Half Size Me. I read your whole story, looked at all your pictures. I really appreciate that you included your weekly weigh in tallies. I look at you and celebrate that you lost just over 60 pounds in 1.5 years starting from from mid 2011. I still struggle with being impatient and pretty much intolerant of my body's progress with my weight loss. Yet I see you had many weeks where you lost less then a pound or gained a little. Wow, what a wake up call for me! Over that 1.5 year time span you stuck with it and look at you now! Thank you. You have encouraged me greatly. I will be patient with myself. I must say, you have aged more then gracefully, are more beautiful now then when you were young! Thanks for putting the effort you have into this blog, you have blessed me so much, Renee C

Wow, I literally cried looking at your transformation pictures. Thinking...how will I ever get there... When should I start or when will I start?? You look amazing and rightfully so! People like you are so inspirational!
Your blog and photos are great. I lost 25 pounds last year and gained back 30. I did this twice. I'm so disheartened that I keep failing at this. I'm 53 and getting tired of doing this so I'm looking for inspiration. After my children were born I dieted and exercised down to 133. At 5'10" that is lean. I had muscle and shapely legs. Since 2000 I gained to where at this time I am 246 pounds. I wish I could find the resolve I once had. I want to be a strong, healthy and hip grandma. I hope I can refocus and get out of this mental funk. I appreciate seeing other people and their struggles and ultimate success!
