Pregnancy and Weight + One New Baby!

A few numbers that bounce around in my head:

233 - how much I weighed when I started my weight loss journey in Feb 2007

158 - how much I weighed when I stopped "losing" due to pregnancy #1. I was 8 pounds away from my goal weight at this point. So close...and still so far.

198 - how much I weighed at my 40 week appointment. Full term and under 200 pounds, I was happy!

178 - how much I weighed post pregnancy, when all the swelling went down.

198 - how much I weighed when I got pregnant with #2. What about the 20 pound gain you ask? Basically when I stopped breastfeeding I didn't change my eating habits and packed on the 20 pounds pretty quickly.

214 - how much I weighed at my 40 week appointment with #2. With this pregnancy my goal was to stay under 233. Going over my original start weight would have taken a psychological toll.

188 - how much I weigh now. I'm still breastfeeding and trying to eat healthy. Have I learned my lesson? Will I keep eating too much after the breastfeeding and pack on the weight again? I hope not.

Ok, just a quick picture or two of what I've been up to besides thinking about weight numbers. Introducing...Myra Lynn. Born on Labor Day, Sept 6th. She weighed 6 pounds, 11 ounces and has rounded out our family perfectly :)

  1. WElcome back to the blogosphere and CONGRATULATIONS!

I am pretty impressed by your numbers, I have really struggled (read ballooned) as a working mum of two

Maybe across the seas we can be motivation post baby buddies.

    Love the pics

  2. Wow! Congrats on the newest addition, and on keeping to a healthy weight during pregnancy!

It's hard to believe I've been following your blog since before you announced preg #1 - I'm an on-again-off-again blogger/wannabe fat triathlete... and I'm 36 weeks along with our first! You're definitely motivating me to get back into the blogworld as I focus on returning to training! Would love to see a posting on coping with baby/toddler life and trying to stay/get active again!

  3. Welcome back - and CONGRATULATIONS!!! I'm impressed you managed to keep the weight gain down with the second pregnancy and it sounds like breastfeeding is helping a lot now too on your back on the numbers wagon. I'm so excited for you having two beautiful children in the last few years, well done again.

  4. Welcome back, Michelle, so good to see your words here again. Congratulations on another beautiful addition to the family -- what adorable siblings together!

It sounds like you did an admirable job of keeping your sanity during pregnancy #2...it is so easy to be overwhelmed and let go of the numbers when something as taxing and important as a new pregnancy comes along!

By the way, this is Jesse from the old Keen Life blog, though I've moved to a different blog identity now, exploring lots of issues with self-awareness type stuff.

  16. You've done splendidly through your two pregnancies. I've actually done worse in that time frame (regaining 50 pounds) and I don't have even one pregnancy to blame it on!

    The kids look GREAT!!! Congrats!

  18. Congrats, i love those pics! A Tummy tuck is the most effective way to tighten your stomach area. It also gets rid of loose or wrinkled skin.
